Former African National Congress chief whip Tony Yengeni was on Friday found not guilty on a drunken-driving charge by the Goodwood Magistrate's Court.

Two arresting police officers had unlawfully obeyed instructions from the then-commander at the Goodwood police station, senior superintendent Siphiwo Hewana, to "orchestrate an advantage favourable to the accused". This amounted to defeating the ends of justice.

The judgement was delivered during the lunch hour. Yengeni supporters seated in the gallery clapped loudly when the magistrate informed Yengeni that he was free to go. -- Sapa

Yes, the justice system will be raped by them as well, just like the ANC's dear leader AIDS shower boy Zuma.

Now we know how to get acquitted - just bribe, sorry arrange, for someone to falsify the police records! It's a no lose situation, if the fraudulent records are accepted, then we're found not guilty; if the records are challenged, the case is dismissed. Can't lose!

This is going to create a whole new industry.

Cheers for acquitted Yengeni

What's more disturbing is the mass support that these ANC cretins still enjoy.

Cheers for acquitted Yengeni

The sabotage of Tony Yengeni's drunken driving case, by the two police officials who arrested him, led to his acquittal, a Cape Town magistrate said on Friday.

"These two police officials wilfully sabotaged their own case," Goodwood Magistrate Ricardo Phillips said.

There was loud applause in the court when, in the lunch hour, Phillips pronounced the former ANC chief whip not guilty.

Hmmm, I totally agree with the judge dismissing this case on these grounds, as much as I wanted Yengeni to be prosecuted for drunken driving...

BUT what I want to see someone bring up, is that if he was drinking alcohol, why was he not thrown back in prison for breaking the terms of his parole.

heres a shocker

Yengeni nominated as ANC MP
Cape Town - Despite the fact that the ANC's guidelines for the list of candidates stipulate that no one with a criminal record may be nominated as a member of Parliament, various branches in the Western Cape have nominated controversial party member Tony Yengeni.

ANC Western Cape secretary Sipho Kroma however explained that all nominations in the province would first undergo a selection process to make sure all the party's requirements for nomination lists were being met, according to reports.

Yengeni, who is also a member of the ANC's national executive committee, last year served four months of his four-year prison sentence after failing to declare the significant discount he had received on a 4x4-vehicle.

On Friday Yengeni was acquitted on a charge of drunken driving after the police had changed the docket.

Not really - does the ANC have any members left?

I just think that they were rather kind to have compiled a list of people that should be investigated. What was it's name? Names of Emerging Criminals or something?
