Around the 11th of May I reported a dead ADSL line. Over the course of the next 5 weeks I phoned the ADSL service department at least once a week. Each time I was told that there were no technicians available in my area, but that my problem would be escalated. The call center staff also tried to convince me that the error was on my router, even though I tried to tell them that the previous 3 times I had this same problem, it was caused by a wiring error at my local exchange.
I finally recieved a call on the 18th of June from a technician who had gone to my local exchange where he found that my line was disconnected. After working for just 3 days, my line died again. Calling the ADSL service department resulted in me being told that my error report had been closed, and they would have to contact the technical department to see if they could schedule another visit. Two weeks later I still hadn't heard back from them, and I finally cancelled the line on the 5th of July.
After numerous visits to my local Telkom service center asking about the status of my deposit, I was finally told that a cheque had been made out to me on the 21st of August. I'm still waiting for my cheque, and I've just recieved a final invoice stating that the account is settled in full, and that Telkom doesn't owe me anything. Querying the invoice at my local Telkom service center only resulted in me being told that I might get the cheque in another couple of weeks.
Even though I am an online gaming junkie, I will never again do business with Telkom.
