Then they need to integrate it with family courts so that maintenance dodgers can't travel the same as the US does.

not well enough, as the CCP also has cameras everywhere tracking people along with social credit system in place,
to further segregate people.
we have yet to see the ANC doing that.
I recall seeing something on YT or somewhere a while back that if they catch you jay walking then your face is plastered all over electronic billboards...Problem here is there is no shame or guilt so it wouldn't make any different I guess...Guys here would see it as some free publicity for their crimes...

Not sure if any details can be made out because this is a screenshot of the form.
Correction, the form will be based off of this one.

If you read the article clearly, as well as the statement from SARS, this is nothing more than a customs declaration form that's being digitised.

They want to tax people for earnings they've made outside the country. This is probably the first step

Based on the wording, it seems that ALL travelers will be required to complete this piece of crap? Otherise it would say "requires all South African citizens and residents...."?

The new system requires all travellers, including South African citizens and residents, children and infants, leaving or entering South Africa by air to complete and submit an online traveller declaration, as well as receive a traveller pass before they travel.

The customs form itself is pretty standard and nothing to worry about.

It is the subsequent travel pass that is the worry. SARS in essence is making itself into an immigration arm, where they can restrict your movement by not issuing you with the pass.

Who issued them with these powers by the way????

Its probably SARS trying to do us a favour because home affairs let people enter via the back door at the airport.

That way SARS can track how many illegal people in SA as well.
I think its more to do with people going in and out on other passports when they have SA passports.

Nothing more than an additional mechanism for SARS to track people in order to collect on taxes.
This doesn't make sense. Tracking people's physical movements probably have zero correlation to their income.

Well people I know that work online for other countries.

And if you go and work on an oil rig or something in the DRC all the tracking mechanism is already in place in the banks. Banks need to record source of income.

Found a much more descriptive article on this..

SARS has been beefing up its tax policy and working with other institutions to ensure stricter compliance with tax law. The latest Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) annual report showed that over R41.6 million in penalties was imposed by SARS on certain people and businesses over 2021 – many of which were instances of non-compliance.

SARS has a history of keeping tabs on taxpayers. In mid-September, Tax Consulting SA noted that the taxman can track a person’s flights as part of stricter emigration processes.

Nikolas Skafidas, a tax expert from the group said that expatriate taxpayers awaiting approval for their non-resident status might have their flights tracked into and out of South Africa by the tax authority.

He said that flight details could possibly be used by SARS when questioning the validity of an applicant’s claim that they intend to reside outside of South Africa permanently.

Girls here would jaywalk so that they can take selfies in front of the billboards.

Some goods that are required to be declared include things such as:

Products purchased or acquired abroad
Goods remodelled or repaired abroad
Anything prohibited or restricted, or controlled under any law

When departing from South Africa, residents are further required by SARS to register valuables before their trip – this can be done at the customs office in international departures before handing luggage in.

:cautious:
