I mean... what if there is no other parking and now all of a sudden its being charged for.

Thoughts?
How much are you paying?

Is it inside the work's premises?
If so then I can't see how it could be right for them to charge you as an employee to park there.

As long as they add it to your CTC otherwise its just wrong. There are a few companies however that do this but I would have to be desperate to work there.

Many companies with limited parking do this.

I think it is ridiculous, but I can't see how it is illegal though?

That it should be added to your CTC at minimum.

If the parking was previously free, and now they've charging for it... they need to add it to your CTC....

I suppose if it's the company's property they could legally charge people to park there, yes? I've personally never come across a company that charges it's own employees to park in the company parking.

Still a dick move by the company though.

Our company faced a parking problem and gave us two solutions. Pay for the good parking, or have parking descend into a free for all farce. Obviously the staff chose the farce instead of paying.

Senior Management dont care, they have reserved parking bays.

As have I.
The one company i worked for took our milk, radio battery & 2 ply toilet paper away.
But proceeded to go play golf every second day, go drinking every afternoon even going as far as returning to work drunk and ordering us around with their brandy breath.
But yes, you reduce our tp to single ply because that's the answer to your financial woes.
And you just keep paying your 'execs' massive salaries to do what?

We are assigned designated parking bays in our building (Cape Town CBD). We are charged R30 per month.
Better than R8+ per hour, so I can't complain.

Depending on the location limitations, the environment can issue how the decision will be made, but should there be ample parking or available parking in the near vicinity then a decision within the total employment consensus can be made, otherwise it is a poor management demonstration. The employees should not pay to park within designated zones, should the environment allow it, include it within the CTC as said by Beachless and Maverick Jester.

At work the kettle is broken, right? The bean counters deem it "not necessary" to replace. They want us engineers to fix it. Now how in hell am I supposed to try and get parts for something made in China? Parts ain't gonna fix it, the thing is worn out.
I lost it and bought a kettle and put it in the kitchen.... Jeezus!

We pay to park in a covered bay. You can elect to park exposed to the elements or pay R20 a month.
