Parking deducted R175 per month, part of CTC.

We complained but was told that it can't be expected of the company to carry the total oaverhead for parking.

At work the kettle is broken, right? The bean counters deem it "not necessary" to replace. They want us engineers to fix it. Now how in hell am I supposed to try and get parts for something made in China? Parts ain't gonna fix it, the thing is worn out.
I lost it and bought a kettle and put it in the kitchen.... Jeezus!

Which means the company won this one. I'd have probably done the same though.

You work for them willingly. You are not being forced.
If they want to charge you for parking, then that is up to them

By the same token, they want you to be in the office. If you do not feel like paying for parking and working from home, then it is up to you...

We park in our companies own parkade, covered parking. R910 per month, not part of CTC. It's either that, or park in the street.

Where I work only Senior Management gets reserved parking bays within the building at a cost of R50 per month.

It costs me R80 a day to park next to our building :crying:

We work on the same basis for our regional offices - you either pay your monthly dues and have the security and comfort of using the company's parkade or park outside on the street.
Our head office has a free-for-all parkade and then designated paid parkades (which you need to bid on yearly).

There's no parking spaces left at our head office (i've counted roughly 40-50 vehichles that park outside on the street, on fields, wherever they can) and the Office Management really couldn't give a damn about it. Even the neighbouring businesses have started nagging us.

LOL! I laugh because this is what has happened multiple times at my work! We have a water pressure problem, which no-one actually makes an effort to investigate. the solution to this: If at first you don't succeed, keep on flushing. Now imagine that toiletbrush...

That's just wrong. Surely you can find something else? Even public transport could be a solution?

I am currently using public transport. Sad part is if Metrorail ****s up and I get to work late I either have to work late or put in leave to compensate for short time.

It depends. Sometimes the fact that you have to pay for your own parking is part of the contract you sign with them.

Standard Bank charged me for parking when I was consulting there. We just added it to their bill. Was R26 per day and that was 7 years ago I think. Crazy stuff. If my company started charging and did not add it to my CTC I would see it as a sign and start looking elsewhere. Its not worth working for people that are that tight fisted.

+1. That's ridiculous.
I'm guessing you spend approx. R1600 per month on parking?

That's why I'm forced to use public transport.

I worked in provincial government and currently in local government and at both Senior and Middle Management had to pay >R70 a month for parking.

Everyone else have to tend to themselves.

Guess that's why the rich stay rich and poor stay poor.

I highlighted your problem :D But seriously, that's just not cool. Some folks barely take home R80 per day.

Our parking is free but also limited.

So we have a rotation for parking under the building and the rest of the time there are bays at a school nearby which means a bit of a walk to the office.

Fortunately riding a bike you have none of these issues.
