You will now pay extra if you keep your Uber driver waiting

Totally fair in my opinion..

Esp in JHB where I never had to wait more than 2 minutes for an Uber to arrive when I was up 2 weeks ago.

It depends. I once got horridly confused at the airport only to find out the Uber is above my head rather than where I was standing. I'd pay extra but in some scenarios it isn't necessarily anyones mistake.

In CT I have to wait on average 5-10 minutes for the guy to start making his way to me.

The one time I needed to go to the airport and it took 20 minutes just to get picked up, would've taken me 5 minutes to walk to the car.

I want a discount for when they cancel after an unreasonable time. Once at Newlands Cricket Ground I was looking for my Uber among a sea of other Uber cars, got cancelled.

How is that not your mistake?

How is it not?

Uber is one of the most talked about tech/IT companies in the world

Talking about something does not make it something. Fine being posted in Business sub, but not quite in this sub.

I shared this article with my SO and she replied with

Didn't know. But I think it'll be difficult to enforce. Because if the Uber driver parks down the road, then it's actually his problem. Also - the app doesn't always update quicky enough. I mean there have been 2 instances where the driver phoned me because he was outside already but according to the app, he was still 2 minutes away... So they need to sort that out before they charge people. I'd fight it if it was app- or driver-based.

I think it's still optional for the driver. But five minutes of extra waiting for your human error is still money being wasted for them.

I dunno, it is also an option.

Shyte customer service is when you penalise the customer for everything they do wrong but never your own company.

And lets see how the drivers abuse this by waiting several km away or on the wrong side of the building or starting a wait and then driving away.

Uber drivers in Gauteng seem to be above board but i've had many bad experiences in Cpt with uber drivers accepting the ride and then driving some other place and waiting for me to cancel until uber fixed the payment they were getting paid when u cancel because the uber driver isn't even trying to come get you.

A friend of mine had a hard time getting home about a week ago. Actually it happened twice.

Booked a ride with Uber, the dude messages him and asks where he's going, and then the driver cancels the trip when he sees it's not very far. I was right there, happened 3 times in a row, on two separate occasions.

So when booking a ride, ignore them when they message/phone you?

I have entered my exact location and the Uber driver waited in the wrong area.

It happened twice and the driver cancelled on me on the second occasion.(Uber)

Taxify is ****ing terrible. They constantly have specials on price per km or email a voucher occasionally. The driver is able to view that a promo has been added to the ride. One of the drivers drove around the block to increase the time +km and increased the price.

A taxify driver cancelled my ride and made me get out because I was paying via card and he needed cash to fill petrol. This happened at roughly 00:00 and thankfully was in a decent area.

I have left negative feedback via app but taxify hasnt made an effort to contact me.Also emailed them and yet to hear from them.

Pay extra and use Uber if you have to.
