Does your suburb have the same mentality? And how far are you with your solar plant?

Small communities are usually more tightly knit and better with these things.
The security systems and infrastructure some groups of farmers have in place are quite impressive. They also go and help without a moment's notice. In the suburbs I don't even know my neighbours.

To be fair, the townships do organize and help themselves as well. When government don't connect them to the electric grid they do it themselves. They sometimes take security into their own hands as well.
We just don't always like the way they help themselves, but with very limited resources and the environment they live in don't give them much choice.

Exactly, plus many people don't need to do things in a group or community, that's why many have installed their own solar.

So I am just surprised why suddenly township people must live like a volk and do things together because some volk in Orania is doing that.

It would make sense if the ANC run that town. But there they don't have leadership who will just steal the money, and the people in power are actually qualified to do the job. Thus their odds are already looking significantly better than the rest of South Africa.
I think the downfall (if it does actually come) won't be because of poor leadership or administration, more a matter of once they get big enough the amount of outside attention and pressure could take it down.

Just about the only time the ANC moves faster than a drugged snail is when they identify something as 'racist' or when changing a name. If Orania ever reach city size it will probably become their main goal to destroy it and change the leftover wreck's name to Zumaville or something.

True. Most gays are in Cape Town.

No that you mention I don't recall seeing a single moffie up there, except the one that came from Gauteng. Wasn't really focused on that so might have missed some.

All the best to them. They are not hurting anyone. I mentioned it a while ago, but I actually just for the hell of it enquired if me and my partner would be allowed to visit as a gay couple. The answer was pretty much....yes, just dont flaunt it too much". Same mail also mentioned they had a lesbian couple living there. That was long ago though so not sure if the lesbians are still there.

Anyway, hope they get the skills they are looking for.

Afrikaner lesbians, I can't even imagine how ugly they must be.
