I experienced the same, but only on some videos.

An example is Jason Billam Travel's last video of his Philippines series. It makes my Mi Box freeze up, and I have to pull the power to restart. Weird.

Another one (I think Flora & Note), I am not able to watch. It does the same, but I am able to exit back to YouTube. Occasionally there is still buffering issues on random videos, even when scaling down to 1080p or 720p

Don't worry, it is only the FPB in South Africa setting up it's systems to sensor all those cat videos. Great China Firewall incoming...

My, "Hot chicks farting" vid takes a while to load, but then it's fine.

It's just when the vid loads that it takes forever.

I've been experiencing that on my phone. Video loads, (sometimes) plays 2 seconds and then the ring of death appears. All on fibre wifi. Switching to mobile data does the trick for me, hopefully they get this sorted soon.

Must be hell to not be able to stream the Serfs and Philosophy Tube.

One ISP told MyBroadband the issue definitely appeared to be localised to South Africa because bypassing the local point of presence and routing via the UK solved it.
I guess the Films and Publications Board is having its censorship machinery silently installed, hence Google's denial.

I received a lot of bitching from the fam, so when I connected to SA via VPN, my oh my... YouTube is fukked.. Does it on MTN LTE, VodaCom and Vox Telecom

Another issue I noticed is that I seem to have issues over the last few days when downloading YouTube videos early in the mornings from the 'Watch Later' menu queue to then watch offline later during the day - when I select & queue them to download, they appear to download successfully, but then some of them mysteriously & immediately 'auto-delete' from the Downloads menu - without any user input at all, and I have to either re-queue them and see if they then manage to download successfully, or I have to then stream them online instead.

Other videos in my 'Watch Later' menu give you the 'download' option but then NEVER download at all, and you have to then manually go and deselect the 'download' option from each entry.
