The only difference between the defrauding Pule and this fine specimen of hard core communism will be the scale at which they destroyed the organisations under them. I suspect the R10bn losses that Telkom sustained under Dina will be small fry compared to the social engineering this character will have in store for them.

Very politically correct indeed. I like Derek and Murray`s comments though , seems like the smaller players are the only ones prepared to tackle the issues and concerns.

Why oh why not someone who has experience?

Why not a Knott-Craig or someone similar. Someone with ideas, knowlege etc. Instead Zuma *****foots again with appointments. Is there no end to the ANC compulsion that party cadres ARE NOT suitable generally.

Until we start appointing the best, right people for the right job, we spiralling backwards at an alarming rate.

I hope Mr Carrim proves me wrong...............

Let's try writing this article again but cut off all the puttyfooting political correct talk from all those industry players so we know they really said nothing.

Someone like a Knott-Craig is better suited to a real, productive role, such as the one he currently holds, rather than being relegated to a role of political sap. It's important that the best and brightest remain within industry, producing things which are actually beneficial to us all. As soon as you fall into the bureaucratic political world, you're doomed.

There are plenty of best and brightest apart from AKC... unfortunately none of them find their way to government positions.

as usual with these appointments, his best credentials is being an old struggle buddy?
well... although we hoped for a real ICT experienced person to get the job, we didnt really expect JZ to surprise us and do the right thing, did we.
we can hope that this dude, if he may not have the qualifications or experience, that he will WANT to do a proper job, and at least surround himself with good, knowledgeable people.
we all know the minister himself doesnt really do the job, he just takes the credit when good happens :)
(and points the finger when bad happens)

but... to do good in this sector, whats needed for the industry, there is bound to be some unpopular decisions to be made.
sofar, the ANC gov, does not handle criticism very well, and ministers are required to tow the line.

IMO Tokio Sexwale would've been a better shuffle to this pozzie, as he at least understands business... but he 'gunning for the wrong team' :)

"There is a dangerous sense of deja vu with the appointment of Carrim." - Murray Steyn from Vox keeping it real.

Tokyo Sexwale wasn't very good where he was deployed (housing minister) - he's a mining magnate, and damn good businessman. I think this highlights that you REALLY need knowledge in the field you're deployed in to be effective. Being an amazing businessman or incredible manager means very little if you know nothing about what you're managing or ... businessing. The most effective kind of boss knows how to do at least part of the job of all his subordinates.

Tokyo had his chance, I really thought he'd be effective as housing minister, but he can f*** off now ... we need to get out of this constant cycle of shuffling ineffective people around, no matter WHO they are.

Fialkov's point was quite valid. It's been a bit of a eyesore for me for quite a while to see ISPs having to pay "license fees" based on their turnover. I mean what kind of tax is that?

In any case I do not know Carrim. All I know is that he was appointed by Zuma. And I feel there is every likelihood that it was done to serve his own interests. I do not trust Zuma or his judgement or his friends one bit. Ultimately - If you ask me we've already been massively sold out to International mega corporation in the form of the weapons deal, e-Tolls and probably many more we are just not aware of in return for bribes for the elite. And if Zuma wants to play that game with SA then him and his cronies can go fork themselves. It's heart breaking enough to see other African states being raped this way. SA at least has a chance of success if only we can rid ourselves of such corrupt filth. SA's wealth for South Africa, not Zuma and his cronies!

What did they expect?

If they wanted open and honest opinions they should have come read everything here on MyBB, "the place for [not so] politically correct opinions..." :D

Yurra Laurie Fialkov needs to either have a better picture taken or his teeth fixed. I cringe...
