Do you know that the ANC government was told by 2007/8 there would be power problems if no extra capacity was made? This was late 2000s. Guess what they did - nothing. The apartheid government always had extra coal power stations mothballed which were brought online. They serviced and built sufficient capacity. The post-apartheid government rode the wave of solid infrastructure that the apartheid government built until there was no capacity. Even Medupi and Kusile and years behind of schedule because of tenders and unions.
If you are daring enough go Google it. It is true. The coal/coal delivery contracts were awarded to cronies which delivered inferior coal damaging the power stations. ANC are corrupt and inefficient - most people of colour are not seeing the problem and don't vote to change the infection in our society.
