Zambia initiates 12 hour loadshedding until November

Certain parts of SA, the infrastructure that was done by white government was to cater for white minority needs to for all South Africans.

Do you know that the ANC government was told by 2007/8 there would be power problems if no extra capacity was made? This was late 2000s. Guess what they did - nothing. The apartheid government always had extra coal power stations mothballed which were brought online. They serviced and built sufficient capacity. The post-apartheid government rode the wave of solid infrastructure that the apartheid government built until there was no capacity. Even Medupi and Kusile and years behind of schedule because of tenders and unions.

If you are daring enough go Google it. It is true. The coal/coal delivery contracts were awarded to cronies which delivered inferior coal damaging the power stations. ANC are corrupt and inefficient - most people of colour are not seeing the problem and don't vote to change the infection in our society.

Zambia and Botswana are also heavily reliant on Eskom

They only use our power lines, nothing else. Eskom built the infrastructure from the dam. Botswana and Namibia could not afford it when they went independent.

That report was given to the ANC Government in 1998. There could have been new power stations by 2007.

old SA govt built extra capacity, planned more for growth...
late 90s new govt were given a report, need to look at future planning.
earlier 2000s new govt mothballed working power stations, claiming not needed.
2008 SA was introduced to loadshedding.
and only then were the powerstation plans dusted off.
and then tenders were given to chronies...
