I managed to get the above printer for the pricely sum of R450.00 still in it's box. Anyone used this type of machine before ? Want to use it to print barcode labels for stock.

Does anyone know where I can find thermal labels for it in Pretoria ?

I noticed that it will also print on Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer media, which is the best ?

On scanners my choices are:

Z-3080B Zebex Z-3080 80mm Ccd Scanner - kbw (ps2) Cable (Black) R262
POSS6000B PROLINE 3800LR Long Range Linear Image Scanner (Black) - No Cable R 682
POSS6-PS2 Keyboard wedge cable for Proline 3800.6000/6890 R53
LS2208-K SYMBOL LS2208 LASER SCANNER-PS2 KBW R1,049

Yep we use those printers all over the place.... R450-00 for that printer is really cheap. We pay nearly R4k for them apiece. I will get you the details now for the consumables and PM it to you in a short while.

The first scanner sounds similar to one that I sampled from one of my suppliers. It was a BIRCH, it was a CCD type and it's performance was pretty good, but it depends on application, because laser (Symbol Brand) scanners are really good in fast moving, varying-distance environments. The Symbol LS series is farking good, it has unsurpassed performance!

I got the Pinnacle Linear scanner as the Symbol seemed a bit pricy ...... already tested it an it seems to work just fine.

Now I am just waiting for the labels to delivered tomorrow + I have to figure out how to get the label layout to a smaller size out of Turbocash. The barcode image takes up to much space and I can't fit all the info on the 30 x 40 label I have selected. Time to PM the developers .......

For labels and thermal receipt paper I have found Ultimate Consumables in Pretoria, friendly service and they deliver ...........
