Zero-alcohol road law on the table for South Africa

Yes, finally, new laws to stop the people who don't follow the current laws, or followed the laws before those or the laws before those, just what we need...

Curious on what it would mean for liquid medication which has alcohol added as a preservative.
I am sure they will have some sort of limits like they do now, but less. The Draeger meters they use are pretty accurate as well.

Drive down Malibongwe drive northrding. You will see many of the cars with every occupant drinking beer in quarts .
In 5 km you will go through 4 roadblocks . (one at epson road one at river road one at lionpark and one as you get on to the N14.

And these drunks just pay the metro bribes and continue on there way.

So tell me how a zero alcohol will help?

I wonder how many accidents are caused by alcohol, by people attending to cigarettes, to cell phones, to children in the car etc. I bet alcohol is not the worst (No, I do not drink and drive, don't smoke and do use Bluetooth). Shall we ban smoking, children, pedestrians, cyclists, truck drivers.......everything possibly causing or contributing to accidents? Hell, ban cars altogether!

Zero-alcohol road law on the table for South Africa

A prominent road safety organisation is pushing for a zero-alcohol policy for drivers in south Africa.
It was confirmed the perps drive People carriers and Polo's and guess who the culprets are..........mostlly. But in SA the laws are not enforced equally or properly so no matter the laws the enforcement are the issue. And yes there is a VIVA that comes with that and not the VIVA vehicle.

That's great, now sit and wait outside a Spur or Cattle Baron on a Sunday afternoon and the roads will be a safer place.

What is the VIVA vehicle?

Zero-alcohol sounds great on paper, but let’s be real, people will still drink and drive, and the enforcement will probably just be a mess. Bribes and loopholes will keep things the same. Unless they get serious about holding drivers accountable, it’s just more red tape.
