Zero International Bandwidth - Again!

This is getting out of hand.

I am in the process of compiling a comparative series of tests between MTN, Vodacom & iBurst using two international test sites (internetfrog.com & speedtest.net - London) and one local site (gam.co.za).

All tests are done using the 3G router connected to the PC via RJ45 (LAN), so no wireless losses.

Tonight I cannot even connect to the international sites using the MTN data while Vodacom and iBurst flies! This I tried between 21h00 and 23h00. Will keep trying...

I'm sorry MTN but you misled all of us with your promised 1.8 Mbps. Where is the international connectivity???

I will post the results here as soon as I can complete the MTN sequence of tests.

I am so so so sorry that I took a 24 month contract. Using the internet as part of my livelyhood, with MTN as SP has brought on me serious problems.

I'm using the 3g HSDPA router from Globe Surfer. Not too bad, only drawback is that it has no external antennae port.

Very pricey though...

I agree with you that it was a mistake to take a 24 month contract with MTN. Only headaches since I went onto the contract.

In all fairness I must add that MTN is at least trying to improve my situation. Today I had the MTN local sales rep out to my house to test hardware with his machine. He did not find anything wrong but at least gave me an external antenna on loan for a week.

Had a long conversation with DD just before close of business. He is also doing his best to resolve the issue.

From both MTN I got the impression that they do not want to lose customers because of this problem with data throughput. A bit of light at the end of the tunnel at least.

As my wife (SAP programmer) says, better slow (MTN) than random disconnects (iBurst). The boss has spoken...

Well my connection hasn't bothered me the last two days..

Just now I got: 452 kbps down and 52 kbps up on speedtest.net to London.. this is what I normally get..

Hope the site is not cached...

It's probably just coincidence as you say...

If it was cached you'd probably be seeing way higher (and completely unbelievable) results... like right off the chart..
