Coming Zidoo X9S will support 10-bit X265

And I am one of the lucky beta-tester reviewers!

ps - I will be doing some in-depth diggin' into this box from tomorrow onwards, so look out for further reviews/updates!

ps2 - got a Jide Remix Mini demo today as well, what a piece of junk... No remote, OS slow and sluggish, Playstore removed due to crappy implementation of OS and Google licensing, AND THE LIST GOES ON!

Rockhip RK3288 already supported X265 10-bit 2 years ago and is still a flagship CPU today.
The Zidoo X9S has an Antutu score of 34000 while a RK3288 device has around 52000 but new devices like the Zidoo X9S do come with new hardware video capabilities like HDR and VP9, but finding content like that is very difficult and mostly only available with Netflix 4K which is not supported on it.

But with our slow internet connections in South Africa we mostly don't even use the new video technologies.
People in the US can stream 4K Netflix and Youtube with HDR and 3D happily on their cheap 100/1000mbps connections.

... which is only good for pron ;)

No, the Zidoo X6 doesn't support 10-bit X265, only 8-bit.

Thanks, I suspected as much.

Had one of those... Sold it. Went Skylake for my HTPC needs. Says it all, really.

OMFW, this is Intel's Rockchip venture, if you did not know!
http://seekingalpha.com/news/254232...lake-in-late-summer-subsidy-for-rockchip-cpus

ps - EXACTLY the Same chip as the RK3288...

It doesn't make sense, it's two separate headings in one that has nothing to do with each other :)
Intel is subsidising Rockchip tablets using the Sofia CPU's in their joint venture.
But the project wasn't making enough money, so it's not going on any more.

The old Remix mini used the terrible Allwinner CPU's.
The new Remix mini uses Rockchip's RK3368 CPU which is much better and comes with Google apps.

Just make sure you understand that there is no RK3368 with the ability to stream either DSTV NOW, nor SUPERSPORT, nor SHOWMAX. If you want to use any of these streaming technologies you are best off with:

:D - Zidoo X1II -DSTV NOW
:D - Tronsmart Vega S95 PRO - SUPERSPORT
:D - Jide Remix Mini (Allwinner) - DSTV NOW
:D - NexBOX N9 - DSTV NOW
:D - K1 PLUS DVB-S2/T2 - DSTV NOW

What does not work:

  1. Zidoo X6
  2. HPH NT-V8
  3. NexBOX Z68
  4. R-BOX (Any flavor)
  5. UGoos UT4
  6. MOST Android 5.n/6 device (TV Box) (I found 1 that actually run!)
  7. Any Device running with more than 4 cores

So, in a nutshell, it seems there is a correlation between Android 5+ and +4core devices.

Yes.
You can play 10-bit H265/HEVC, 4K videos and 3D videos(if your tv supports it).
Go to psarips.com to get 10-bit videos.
Netflix & Showmax also works on your device.

Yep, did the firmware update as per our last chat. Everything works great now. I do however have a question around why im getting audio and no picture when playing locally stored videos via Kodi. Well spmc and NTMC to be exact

Dont know if ive asked you this before though, but im trying to figure it out.

Did you manage to get your device and do some tests. From what i read, Chinese shops are going to start shipping from 18.09. Apparently there are some public holidays in China at the moment and they will be back at work on Sunday.
Not sure if you have seen this? http://www.android-mediaplayer.de/index.php/Thread/3700-ZIDOO-X9s-REVIEW-TEST/ it is quite popular German site for media players. The test was done by the admin and main tester of the site. Guy with decent setup and experience with media boxes. Not sure how easy is going to be for you, it is in German, but if you have not seen it yet, maybe you can have a look. Let us know when you are done with your own tests.

Cool, nice. Did you get your box and did you manage to do some tests. I read quite a lot of oversees forums and lots of users are not very happy, particularly having problems when playing 4K movies and lots of other smaller or bigger glitches.

Nothing more than even the top (NVidia) boxes... The thing is, due to my 4mb adsl line, I do not have a lot of 1080+ sources and those I have plays quite nicely. I believe some of the Zidoo forum users are out to trip/slow down the development of Zidoo products. I know there is one faction from Germany doing it's utmost to upset the sales of Zidoo I just can not get my head around...

Other than that, the device is a nice package with awesome network speeds (Both LAN and WiFi), very nice interface and plays quite nicely with all my other KODI equipment and shares (SAMBA shares via OMV)... (There is even a kick-ass router technology built-in...)

As a last point, I do believe the Zidoo product line to be the best there is out of the Chinese market. They are very fast to respond and try to address problems as they crop up. Unlike the other brands they actually respond to messages and are willing to even chat via Skype. Their products are well built and very neatly packaged. Their technical expertise in the android market holds up against any other product out there.

MyGica 582 - with the patch to unroot from their site - DSTV Now works well,
What I picked up, if internal memory gets full It will give error until you free some to be available to start to steam again..
The error is kind of "Unexpected error, Please try again later"
If you are on the one channel steaming it works,
The moment you switch to other channel and the memory is full comes with the error,
I struggled, Did speed test was good- and it was not working, Rebooted the box, still same,
Then I thought let me free 500Mb on the device memory.. and Voala, It worked.. Seems like it needs reserved space to buffer for streaming..
