For those saying S.A is going the way of Zimbabwe, let's play spot the difference.
http://www.google.co.za/publicdata/...ZAF:ZWE&ifdim=region&hl=en_US&dl=en&ind=false
Things to note. Zim has always been a crap hole and there was no magical time where they were a rich country because they had more white farmers. Nor was there ever a nose dive into obscurity just general smooth sailing crapness.
S.A on the other hand since 2002 ? Boom ! Boom ! Boom !
I read a very stupid article the other day that said S.A was falling behind in growth compared to other African countries. A quick maths lesson.
I'm going to adjust the actual GDP to numbers people can understand more easily.
If I have 400 rand (South Africa)and grow it by 4% how many rand extra do I have ?
16 extra rand.
But if I have 5 rand and grow it by 12% (Mozambique, Angola etc) how many extra rand do I have ?
60 cents.
So after the year is done we have South Africa with 416 rand. And the other two with R5.60. A difference of 410.40
Let's go another year.
South Africa : R432.64
Others : 6.72
The gap is now 425.92. So how can anyone on their right mind say S.a is falling behind ? Keep in mind as the other countries grow they will desperately struggle to maintain 12 % growth. While they might grow as much or even more the growth presented as a percentage will shrink proportionally.
