Nothing wrong with this. Have you tried getting reception in most of Africa.

There is none. In priority they need it first.

I would also launch Starlink first there before here. It can make a huge dent in Iridium'w profits.

This has nothing to do with Starlink and more do to with ANC ideology IMHO.

Look if you have used iridium before you know it costs a fortune.

For many rural communities in Africa it will be a game changer and for many South Africans working there it will be the same.

Do we really need it here? And why? Maybe in some really rural areas yet but MTN and Vodacom has put in a lot of effort to cover that. It wont be a game changer for us but the rest it would.

Also no lie about it. Elon is here to make money. Many others have to follow rules so he cant expect to just steam-roll his way through it all.

There is also a clash with our square kilometer array. Elon Musk is familiar with this issues too. If they share the same frequency it will basically make the world's largest radio telescope....useless. This will affect many jobs not just local and abroad.

Oh and its not a few satellites. Its 42000 satellites flying over us. If youre a hacker for a government agency you can basically track and listen to a lot of info.

I don’t think he wants to steam roll through the rules.

As soon as they told him the our unique Black Empowerment rules, he probably just shrugged and moved to next country and likely hasn’t even given us a 2nd thought

One possible hurdle might be that Icasa requires new telecoms licensees to have at least 30% black ownership, a threshold SpaceX is unlikely to meet.
Starlink can't care less about the 30% threshold in their global plan, whilst if ICASA ignores their own regulation then they are favouring Starlink unfairly over the dozens of SA operators
