Good news for folks in Parlock / Newlands who have been waiting for fibre, ZTEL has brought fibre to your neighborhood and if you're part of those affected by the Durban Floods, you can apply for a free airfibre installation.

Notice regarding recent intermittent unstable connectivity

ZTEL areas affected Gauteng, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth

Our team is pleased to inform you that the above-mentioned issue has now been resolved completely and all the hardware upgrades needed have been installed.
The incident occurred during the first week of July 2022 on one of our core routers that aggregate traffic from Gauteng, Durban, East London, and Port Elizabeth. The case was escalated to our core engineering team, who installed a state-of-the-art, high-performance, and much more powerful router to replace the one that was found to be causing intermittent connectivity. However, since this router was at the head of a National Long Distance (NLD) route, it was necessary to distribute the revised configuration to a number of devices on the route. For this fix to be fully implemented, we needed to upgrade two additional routers, one for Gauteng clients and one for Port Elizabeth clients. As a result of this, as well as the Eastern Cape Dual Fibre break (see attached document), a large number of clients around South Africa were affected.

Consequently, our support desks had higher than normal spikes in support requests, which delayed response times. Our team understands how frustrating it can be to wait for a solution, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. In the event that you were affected by this outage, we will be happy to compensate you for the days you experienced unstable connectivity.

Going forward, we have completed a full analysis of this problem, identified its root cause, assessed its impact, and hired international acclaimed network engineers to review the issue and develop steps to prevent it from occurring again. We appreciate your patience as we worked around the clock to restore the great, reliable ZTEL internet experience you've come to expect.

Sincerely,
ZTEL Management

Free cyber threat monitoring and reporting service

As you may already know, we have recently completed a major upgrade at our points of presence in both Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg. As part of the process, an advanced cyber threat monitoring and intelligence system was deployed to analyze traffic for potential threats. The system informs you of potential viruses and botnets that may be transiting your network or compromising your devices, adding another layer of security to your internet.
Using this system, ZTEL is offering cyber threat intelligence reporting as a free service to all its AirFibre, Fibre, ADSL, and Broadband Wireless customers*.

For a dedicated, full-time cyber threat monitoring reporting system that provides 100% reporting, please contact your sales manager or give us a call at 0414571719.
Whenever our systems detect traffic to your IP address, our cyber security team will reach out to you to recommend steps to protect your devices and mitigate future issues.

*Note: Although we will try to notify you of all security incidents, we cannot guarantee that all incidents will be reported. This is a free service.

Thank you
ZTEL Management
