Yeah I read this just now.

Pick n pay has to be hygienic just like places are suppose to be.

The ANC'S Women league are taking this incident so badly-trying to get attention for themselves I guess :p

Then again I can not really comment because its not my culture but seriously-just remove your little bangle for a while, you wont die

Surely this is taking it too far. If it is considered a sin, just wear a protective guard like they said. Gee Wizzz!

I'm sure a Mod is watching this thread carefully. However IMO, there are a lot of people that hangs on to the racism thing. Racism left over 15 years ago. Why are everybody using it as an excuse still.
Like cokefest said, they just wants some attention, especially just before elections.
Come on people, move on.

I do not have time to do searches on the forum. If you cannot link me, I am just gonna let it go.

Well Essop Pahad recently said that moaning whites are racist. I'm sure you were involved in that thread...

What is the difference? I am curious as to what purpose this serves in the Zulu culture - excuse my ignorance but I'm at a loss as to how wearing a dead animal on one's wrist can be such an issue. Could the employee maybe not have worn it around her ankle instead? Not trying to ridicule here - I just don't understand it...[/QUOTE]

The wristband is not your normal bracelet, it cannot be worn and taken off when you sleep or go to work. It has to fall off by itself.

Not all Zulu tribes wear the band and I happen to be from a tribe that does not. However I understand their significance and therefore would urge you to educate yourself before making statements are,in your own words, "ignorant".

You speak as if its literally a dead animal that hangs on the wrist, which leads me to believe that you have not seen the bracelet.

I work in the meat industry and tell my staff all the time to take things off their fingers and wrists.

I too must be a racist :(
