He said Squires' comments "should prompt reflection and critical self-examination among the media, commentators and others involved in disseminating information" and that judicial decisions should be accurately represented.
No disagreement from me there.

Still wonder how the apparently false comment got so widely disseminated.

Fortunately I don't think even the ANC takes COSATU seriously.

holy crap, this is the first time ive agreed with this government, well only because his sacking may hopefully cause some instability in the party.

It would seem only people who fall out of favour with the ANC bigwigs get noticed.

I don't actually want to know the real level of corruption in this country - it'd probably freak me out.

SA is ranked 51 of 163.

“Corruption traps millions in poverty,” said Transparency International Chair Huguette Labelle.
-
A strong correlation between corruption and poverty is evident in the results of the CPI 2006.
-
A concentration of so-called ‘failed states’ is apparent at the bottom of the ranking. Iraq has sunk to second-to-last place, with pre-war survey data no longer included in this year’s CPI.
-
The Facilitators
The weak performance of many countries indicates that the facilitators of corruption continue to assist political elites to launder, store and otherwise profit from unjustly acquired wealth, which often includes looted state assets. The presence of willing intermediaries – who are often trained in or who operate from leading economies -- encourages corruption; it means the corrupt know there will be a banker, accountant, lawyer or or other specialist ready to help them generate, move or store their illicit income.

I know i maybe going off topic.I do not think that S.A has a party that could rule S.A well. For example black people do not trust the D.A or Tony Leon as they think that they may just take the country backwards into apartheid, the IFP too pro-zulu and the ANC well i think they just created a neo aparthied. So i think people would rather stick with the ANC as it much better than the other two parties.
