Zuma is a victim of a political conspiracy

I was thinking, is Zuma really suffering from a political conspiracy? It has been said time and time again through the media that a total of up to R1 billion was paid in bribes to people, mostly members of the ANC, during the arms deal period. And it has been said that Zuma accepted bribes of up to R4 million while Mbeki was accused of accepting a bribe totalling R30 million rand, which he donated a large amount of that money to the ANC. Now there are other individuals who accepted bribes and are not charged, why is that? I believe Zuma is guilty, but why is he the only one being targeted? Why aren't other individuals who accepted bribes totalling about R966 million (R1 billion - R4 million - R30 million) being charged by the NPA? Is Zuma the only one being targeted simply because people within the ANC and/or NPA don't want him to be president?

I basically want to know why is Zuma the only one being charged and not anyone else that commited corruption in the arms deal.

What stoke said.

I wouldn't be surprised if, in charging Zuma, the whole rotten lot comes to light. If the M&G is anything to go by, it looks like the ANC is trying to save Zuma by selling Mbeki out. But if this happens, does anyone really think Mbeki is going to go quietly? I doubt it.

Also, remember that speech Zuma did last year, threatening the ANC leadership to let him be otherwise he will rat them out?

I think he was the only "dowwe lig in die bondel" that got caught out!

Because the Scorpions are gone?

The scorpions were officially terminated this year, after the ANC took the decision and agreed in polokwane to terminate the scorpions in december 2007, and Zuma was first charged in 2005 sometime, so why is it taking the scorpions such a long time to charge everyone else that's guilty or corruption before they were terminated? Your excuse does not add up Flanders......

If you have evidence of other folks in government accepting bribes please bring it to the NPA's attention.

Firstly Shabir Shaik was convicted of bribing Zuma (Judgement which held up on appeal), prosecuting Zuma is the next logical step. The fact that Zuma has been legally squirming for 4 years doesn't mean there's a conspiracy, it just means that Kemp J Kemp is bloody good.

The ANC is the prime obstacle to unravelling the arms deal, they're making every obstacle they can to any investigation.

I suspect a full unravel of the arms deal will make the Zuma case seem like chicken feed.

Sorry Sly, I was being cynical in my comment but I couldn't find the appropriate emoticon to attach. Maybe a :p would've done the trick.

Or that he is getting paid by the hour.

Dancing around the courts costs the client - better advice would be to address the charges and prove they aren't true. So far we've just had technical objections. If there is no case it would have all been over before Christmas. All the tactics have done is convince a bunch of people that Zuma is guilty.

And so what if there is a conspiracy? If he stole the cookies he is just as guilty no matter what the neighbours are whispering to each other.

If it turns out that he's implicated, I hope that he sings like a canary. I'd love to see each and every politician who had a crooked finger in the Arms Deal pie sink like a rock.

Assuming they aren't true.......if they are however?

Exactly. :D

One can only wonder what other scandals will come to light, too...

Oops, sorry about the typo...

See, getting off on a technicality isn't going to be good enough. No matter how much he may want to leap up and down about being innocent until proven guilty everyone is going to believe that he is guilty.

And here is a thing to consider - slander and libel - how will Zuma ever take action against anyone. I can say that he is corrupt. He'll have to prove his case in order to have an action against me - I'm innocent until proven guilty and slander and libel charges can only be brought if they aren't true.

Or maybe they are exempt from the basic tennets of law.
