Pieter Uys—Chief Executive Officer, Vodacom
Pieter joined Vodacom in 1993 as a member of the initial engineering team. Since then he quickly progressed through the ranks and was appointed as Chief Executive Officer effective 1 October 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stellenbosch Business School.

Douglas Reed - Chief Executive Officer, Vox Telecom
Doug Reed is a serial entrepreneur whose biggest passion is starting up and growing successful businesses - especially when other people think it's impossible. He joined DataPro nine years ago after being approached by Control Instruments Ltd to turn the company into an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Since then he has seen DataPro's value grow 700-fold, from R1.2m in the mid-1990s to a current market capitalisation of around R 1bn - and made several millionaires among the staff in the process.

Richard Came - Director, Dark Fibre Africa
Richard Came was a co-founder of Dimension Data and served in numerous positions where he was ultimately responsible for group strategy and marketing. Richard invested in CIV – the holding company of Dark Fibre Africa- where his executive responsibilities include deal sourcing and negotiation, fund-raising and ongoing management of portfolio companies. Richard holds BA and MBA degrees from the University of Witwatersrand.

Angus Hay - Chief Technology Officer, Neotel
Dr. Angus Hay is the Chief Technology Officer at Neotel. Angus is well known in the telecoms and broadband community, and is a regular conference speaker at events related to telecoms and ICT. Dr. Hay completed his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1987. He went on to complete his PhD in Digital Transmission from the same institution in 1998.

Brian Seligmann - Senior Manager : Data Bearers, MTN
Brian Seligmann is a Senior Manager : Data Bearers & Services at MTN. He is the driver behind many of MTN’s data initiatives and a well respected gadget guru. Brian is also the African representative on the Executive Management Committee of the GSMA. In the past Brian was the Marketing Manager at Apple Computer and a Technical Director at NuLogic Systems. Brian holds degrees from Canterbury University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Brian Herlihy - President, SEACOM
Brian Herlihy has extensive experience in mega-infrastructure projects in Africa spanning a number of disciplines including power generation, chemical processing plants, ports and telecommunications. As SEACOM president Herlihy oversees the full funding and implementation of the $600 million fibre optic undersea cable project. He holds a MSc and BA from the London School of Economics and Boston College respectively.

Richard Fyffe—Head of Interactive TV, MultiChoice
Richard Fyffe joined M-Net owned advertising sales company Oracle Airtime Sales as GM of its online division, Oracle Online Sales. As the internet, telephony and television started to converge, Fyffe moved to DStv to head up MultiChoice Africa’s Interactive TV division. Richard hold a BS degree from the University of Liverpool and a MSc from the University of Stirling.

Dominic Cull - Director, Ellipsis Regulatory Affairs
Dominic Cull is one of the premier telecommunications lawyers in South Africa today. Dominic specialises in electronic communications law with a focus on under-serviced areas and wireless connectivity. Dominic holds a B.BusSc LLB and LLB LLM (ICT law) from the University of Cape Town.

Mike Vos - Senior Manager: Technical Product Development, Telkom
Mike Vos is a telecoms veteran with a strong technical and product development background. Mike is currently heading up Technical Product Development, Managed IP Services, at Telkom and is responsible for Broadband Access technology, product development and assurance systems. Mike holds a MBL from UNISA and B.Eng from University of Pretoria.

Duncan McLeod is currently an Associate Editor at the Financial Mail.
He is one of the best ICT journalists working in South Africa today, and has been named the 2005 Telkom ICT Journalist of the Year and the MyADSL People’s Choice Journalist of the Year two years in a row.

Roelf Diedericks, Chief Technology Officer, Neology
Roelf is a well known personality in the telecoms and Internet space and has a strong technical background in Internet architecture, programming, telecoms technologies, IP systems and IP networks. Roelf is a founding member and CTO of Neology who is involved in various telecoms projects across Africa. Roelf holds a BSc degree from the University of Pretoria.

Steve Briggs, Executive Head: Commercial, iBurst
Steve Briggs is a seasoned professional who started his career at Standard Bank in the mid-nineties. Steve joined iBurst in May 2008 as the Head of Integration, and in August 2008 was appointed as Executive Head: Commercial, overseeing the commercial elements of iBurst’s business. Steve holds a BCom degree from the University of Port Elizabeth, a B.Com Honours from UNISA and a MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand.
