SA state IT spend at R2.7bn
In a report on information systems audits performed at the National Treasury and the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) – tabled at parliament on Monday – Fakie said 71% of the total expenditure was made up of payments to contract workers while 18% was spent on IT acquisitions and 11% on maintenance and consumables.
"Of the R1.93bn paid to contract workers about R1.35bn was paid to SITA for IT services rendered to national departments during the 2004/05 financial year."
