Icasa to review telecoms industry progress at conference
The conference, under the theme "Has telecoms deregulation delivered on its promise?", will be an opportunity for industry members to reflect on what has happened since the use of VoIP was legalised a year ago, what the emerging best practices are, and what moves the major players have made.
Other speakers include Transtel CEO, Karl Socikwa on the Second National Operator (SNO) and Janet McKenzie of Cliffe Dekker Attorneys on the latest regulation and legislation affecting the industry, including the Electronic Communications Bill (previously the Convergence Bill).
Socikwa will also chair a panel of industry leaders for an in-depth discussion of how deregulation has changed the landscape – or failed to. Panellists for 2006 include representatives from, Storm, Gateway Communications, UUNET, Datapro, Telkom and Internet Solutions.
