Telkom’s ADSL problems continue

According to information from the MyADSL forums Telkom’s New Doornfontein Cache Server was playing up which meant that ADSL customers could not browse international sites. This trouble started Friday afternoon, and was only resolved on Saturday morning.

This is the fourth large scale incident with Telkom’s ADSL service in the past few weeks, and the resolution times are longer than expected.

Telkom’s response regarding this issue came late on Monday, in which they stated that their ‘network management systems did not pick up anything’.

MyADSL then supplied Telkom with a forum link of the discussion regarding the international connectivity issue to provide more details about this problem on their network, but again they stated that they could not find any evidence of this outage.

The fact that Telkom’s network management system and their communications department are unaware of such a major outage is of great concern.

Is this a taste of what is to come in the ADSL arena?
