MTN vs. Vodacom 3G
The answer is that with cellular packages, it is often difficult to compare directly, given the different ways the operators bundle packages together. But, the table below gives some indication.
The way that both are offering high speed data – which could be 3G, EDGE or GPRS – is by way of packages either bundled together as part of a new or existing contract and thus for use on a phone compatible with the technology, or else bundled together with a data card. Or, users can buy of data for their existing device at a rate of R2 per megabyte used – the same for both operators.Vodacom initially launched its data card, with less emphasis on 3G phones, whereas MTN says most users will use 3G on their phones, and waited for more decent and affordable handsets to become available before launching.
