WBS to extend their iBurst broadband coverage

The new base stations are in Roodekrans (West Rand), Strand (Cape Town), Menlo/CSIR (Pretoria), Benoni (East Rand), Eden Mall (East Rand), Illovo/Hyde Park (Sandton), Morningside (Sandton) and Proton/Florida (West Rand).

These base stations will all go live within the next three weeks.

The improved coverage will allow iBurst to compete more effectively with the other wireless broadband services from Sentech, MTN and Vodacom.

According to Sasan Parvin, Chief Technical Officer at WBS, this network expansion and increased coverage will bring this ‘superior wireless broadband service’ in South Africa to more consumers.

With the recent introduction of the iBurst iGo services it means that all the current wireless broadband providers have similar ‘small cap’ offerings. Issues like coverage, mobility and Quality of Service will play a vital role in ensuring market share in this competitive Internet access arena.

WBS seems to be well aware of these requirements, and their continual expansion will be coupled with a more customer centric approach, according to WBS’s operations manager, Musa Mlangeni.
