Vodacom Business adds Speedtest.net servers in SA
The Speedtest.net service has become the premier destination for Internet users to test the download and upload speeds of their broadband service. The Speedtest.net website has a very user friendly interface and sports a multitude of testing servers across the globe – including servers in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Vodacom Business is the latest South African telecoms provider to launch their own Speedtest.net servers, hosted on Vodacom’s core network. The company added two new servers, hosted in Midrand/Pretoria and Durban.
This move came shortly after Telkom SA (SAIX) started hosting a Cape Town Speedtest.net server – based at their Barack Street Core Edge site in the Cape Town central business district. The server is connected via 1 Gigabit Ethernet to the Telkom core network.
Vodacom Business and Telkom joined Technology Concepts, well known for their ADSL bonding services, in hosting Speedtest.net servers. The new addition means that local broadband users will be able to accuratly measure their broadband speeds on multiple networks and locations.
Vodacom Business said it is planning additional speed test servers in the near future, but no details about the planned locations are currently available.
