How much Vodacom subscribers really pay for a voice call
Vodacom has released its financial results for the year ended 31 March 2015, which show that the effective blended rate for a voice call is 65c per minute. This is down from 79c the previous year.
The effective price for prepaid calls over the last year was 45c per minute, down from 55c the previous year.
These lower effective rates are a result of retail price cuts and promotions which offer subscribers more value for money.
Vodacom CEO Shameel Joosub said they have attracted the majority of contract customers to integrated packages and established the value bundle approach within the prepaid segment, which has in effect rebased pricing.
“This resulted in a 17.7% reduction in the blended average effective price per minute for calls, and a 24.1% reduction in the average effective price per MB of data,” said Joosub.
