MTN launches new Pay As You Go packages
SA mobile providers have faced severe criticism regarding the high call rates for Pay as you Go packages and it seems that this pressure is starting to impact the new products that are launched into the market.
MTN announced today that they will introduce two new products, the Call per second Peak and the Call per second Maximiser.
Says Donovan Smith: “We understand that our sizable Pay As You Go client base has diverse needs. The packages that have been developed both offer per second billing from the very first second and are designed especially for high volume customers who use their Pay as you Go cell phones primarily during peak times. Customers will be able to choose the price plan most suitable for their requirements.”
Call Per Second Peak offers a saving of up to 17% on the per minute rate of a Pay as you Go peak time call. This price plan will benefit customers who make most of their calls during peak hours. MTN Customers can migrate to Call Per Second Peak free of charge by dialing 141 and selecting option 4 or by dialing *141*4#.
Call Per Second Peak Maximiser is geared for Pay as you Go customers with a higher than average usage of their cell phones, especially during peak hours. For a fee of R1 a day (R30 per month), customers can take advantage of the reduced call rates on Call Per Second Maximiser and save up to 31% on the cost of peak time calls. An all day SMS rate of 20c per SMS will apply.
To further assist Pay as you go customers, MTN has developed the “Best Price Plan Advisor” which assists customers to identify the most ideal Pay As You Go price plan.
This application analyses a customer’s usage for the previous calendar month and makes recommendations on the best suitable Pay as you Go price plan for the customer’s requirements.
Should a customer be advised to switch, the potential savings to be gained upon switching to the recommended price plan, will also be indicated. The Best Plan Advisor can be accessed by dialing 141, choosing option 4 and following the voice prompts or by dialing *141*4*0#.
