DA slates Telkom broadband
The Democratic Alliance slammed Telkom after the official opposition party's electronic communications have been down for over 26 hours due to a fault with Telkom's broadband connection.
The DA said that despite numerous phone calls to Telkom to establish the extent and duration of the problem, Telkom had been unable to fix the problem.
They reported that Telkom said that customers are served on a first come, first served basis and that it did not have enough people to deal with the problems it experiences; and that its processes in this regard are inflexible and unquestionable.
"The DA, like many millions of other customers in South Africa who are forced to put up with the often poor service that Telkom delivers and the arrogance and incompetence that goes with being a monopoly, is extremely frustrated at the problem and apologises for any inconvenience.
"The moment that an alternative fixed line operator is available, we will seriously consider leaving Telkom behind, forever."
At 11:25, the DA's media spokesperson Gareth van Onselen confirmed that their communications were still down, and they had no indication when they would be restored.
