How to view everything you’ve ever done on Facebook
Facebook allows users to download their personal Facebook archive, which lets you see everything the social media platform knows about you.
The information includes your Timeline info, posts you have shared, messages, photos, and more, said Facebook.
“Unfortunately, there’s no way to individually select which data you would like to download when you download your Facebook info. You’ll have to download your file in its entirety.”

The steps below detail how you can access your Facebook archive.
Access Settings menu
In Facebook for desktop, click on the Settings menu arrow icon at the top right of the screen. In the General section, click “Download a copy of your Facebook data”.
Start your archive
A page will then appear, instructing you to download your information. Click the green Start My Archive button.
You will be asked to enter your Facebook password, and click download again. Facebook will then send a download link to the email address linked to your profile.
Click on the link at the bottom of the mail to start the download, which will take you back to the “download your information” page. You be asked to enter your password again after selecting to download the data.
You archive will then start downloading as a .zip file. (The Staff Writer’s .zip file was 13MB.)
Open the index.htm
Once the .zip folder has downloaded, open it and double-click on the index.htm file.
This will open an overview of your profile, detailing your name, email address, when you registered on Facebook, previous relationships, family members, groups and networks you joined, and more.
Two folders will appear alongside the index.htm file: “html” and “photos”.
The html folder contains various .htm files, which provide you with a full history on:
- Friends, Friend Requests, Removed Friends
- Messages
- Pokes
- Videos
- Photos (also accessible via the photos folder)
- Timeline
- Places
- Events
Double-click the files to open that category’s history.
