New Android smartphones launched by Motorola
Motorola Mobility, a subsidiary of Motorola introduced two new Android 2.1 smartphones in South Africa today: Motorola Flip, a square and compact smartphone, and Motorola MB525 which is slim and “life-proof.”
Motorola Flipout
Motorola Flipout features a square pivot design that opens to reveal a five-row QWERTY keypad with a separate row for numeric keys. Motorola also claimed that the device has “added security for Exchange server users.”
“Flipout merges Motorola’s design heritage with Android to deliver a new take on the typical smartphone form. In an incredibly compact square, Flipout fits neatly into your palm, purse or small pocket, making it easy to stay connected while on the go,” said Megan Nicholas, Country Manager, Motorola Mobility South Africa.
In South Africa, Flipout will be available in an array of colors and consumers can choose from four interchangeable battery doors in White, Fairway Green, Raspberry Crush or Saffron.
Motorola MB525
Motorola said that the MB525 is a handset that has been designed to handle everything that life throws your way.
“Our daily lives are full of challenges, which prompted Motorola to design a phone that is ‘life proof’,” continued Nicholas. “Motorola MB525 is scratch and water resistant as well as dust proof, protecting you from life’s little challenges such as spilling liquids, a sudden rain shower or a drop in the sand.”
“MB525 is more than just water resistant and dust proof; it’s boredom proof too,” said Megan.
“The Connected Music Player lets you download new music instantly, find lyrics and cover art, and share it with your friends, right from your phone. Use the 5MP camera with flash, digital zoom and auto-focus to capture sharp pictures and video. Upload them instantly to sites like Facebook, Picasa and YouTube, or share wirelessly with other devices. Not to mention the myriad applications available from Android Market, everything anyone might ever need to conquer boredom,” said Megan.
A 3.7-inch high-resolution WVGA touch display stretches from edge to edge to maximise media playback and web browsing. More touch sensors will allow users to experience increased sensitivity, accuracy and response time.
Both Flipout and MB525 enjoy access to a suite of Google mobile applications including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube. Plus you have access to Android Market which has more than 100,000 applications.
Motorola Flipout and Motorola MB525 will be available in South Africa in December 2010, according to the manufacturer.
