CIA releases Osama Bin Laden’s computer files
The CIA has released files recovered after a raid on Osama Bin Laden’s compound in May 2011. Bin Laden was killed in the raid.
The CIA has reportedly released over 470,000 files, which include 174GB of video, 7.4GB of images, and 18GB of documents.
The release comes with a warning from the CIA against downloading files onto your device without protection.
“Prior to accessing this file collection, please understand that this material was seized from a terrorist organisation. While the files underwent interagency review, there is no absolute guarantee that all malware has been removed,” it said.
The agency did not publish all files from the raid, either due to national security reasons or because they were copyrighted.
Copyrighted material included the movies Antz, Cars, and Ice Age, video games Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil, and documentaries.
The cache also contains a 19-page report on ties between Al-Qaeda and Iran, which is speculated to be the main story in the US from the CIA’s release of the files.
