Apple laptops climb the ranks

Apple is now the fourth-largest laptop brand worldwide, according to data from TrendForce.

Apple overtook ASUS to claim fourth spot, based on Q3 2017 market share figures.

The top brands were ranked as follows, based on Q3 2017 market share:

1. HP – 25.8%
2. Lenovo – 20.1%
3. Dell – 15.6%
4. Apple – 10.4%
5. ASUS – 8.9%
6. Acer – 7.7%

“Apple… focused on the new models of MacBook Pro in the third quarter, recording third quarter shipments of 4.43 million units and an increase of 11.3%,” stated the report.

“HP recorded strong performance in the third quarter, reaching a single-season shipment of 11 million units for the first time. HP is expected to achieve the annual goal of 40 million units [shipped].”
