HTC Flyer price drop
Following the launch of the Amazon Kindle Fire at a price point of $199 (R1,615.50), the HTC Flyer saw its price tumble from $499.99 (R3,941.60) to $299.99 (R2,364.96) at online retailer Best Buy last week Friday.
The Flyer’s specifications include a single core Qualcomm processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 7-inch 1024 x 600 touch screen, 16GB built in storage and dual camera. They are similar to the Kindle Fire’s specifications which include a 1024×600 7-inch IP touch screen, dual core processor, and 8GB built-in storage.
Best Buy took identical action with the BlackBerry PlayBook earlier in September when the price dropped from $499.99 (R3,941.60) to $299.99 (R2,364.96).
The Amazon Kindle Fire is set to go on sale on November 15, and depending on popularity may spur price cuts across a host of other tablet PC devices.
