120Gbps internet connection going live this weekend
Networking giant, Cisco, is partnering with mobile broadband provider, Telia, to install a 120Gbps connection at this year’s DreamHack festival in Sweden.
DreamHack, recognised as the world’s largest LAN event, will feature around 20,000 attendees this year who will have access to the 120Gbps line – thanks to a 300 kilometre fibre connection from Jönköping to Stockholm designed to serve up to 750,000 people.
The project has been underway for the last year, with Telia handling construction of the fibre network and Cisco providing and setting up a pair of CRS-3 routers to manage the connection.
If the connection is successful, it will set a world record for network capacity utilization.
