Drunk RIM executives ground Air Canada flight
An Air Canada flight was forced to make an emergency landing after two of its passengers became so drunk and unruly; they had to be handcuffed to their seats.
The pair, George Campbell and Paul Alexander, are executives at BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM), and were ordered to pay a total of $71,757 (R574,414.44) on restitution fees for the inconvenience caused.
The disruption caused the flight from Vancouver to Beijing to arrive 18 hours later than expected.
According to a statement from RIM, “Based on the limited information available at this time, RIM has suspended the individuals involved pending further investigation.”
The two RIM executives have been banned from flying on Air Canada during an unspecified probation period.
