Internet Explorer still on top
Research firms Net Applications and StatCounter have released the latest figures for browser market share for 2011, with Internet Explorer topping both charts.
Internet Explorer lost out on market share to rivals in December 2011 but despite this still remains in the top spot with 51.87 percent market share according to Net Applications, and 38.65 percent according to StatCounter.
Meanwhile Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox fought over second place. According to Net Applications, Firefox holds 21.83 percent of the market share, marginally ahead of Chrome which holds 19.11 percent. StatCounter told a different story, Chrome sat in second place at a healthy 27.27 percent followed by Firefox at 25.27 percent.
Safari placed fourth in research from both firms, sitting at 4.97 percent according to Net Applications and 6.08 percent according to StatCounter.
