Virgin Mobile has been informed by Samsung that they can expect stock of the Galaxy Nexus to arrive in the country at the end of January 2012.

The Galaxy Nexus is the latest Android flagship smartphone from Google, developed in partnership with Samsung which builds and distributes the device.

According to Virgin Mobile, with the landing on our shores at the end of January, they will effectively have stock at the beginning of February 2012.

“We do intend to offer this unit on a very competitive deal as soon as it is available,” Virgin Mobile spokesperson, Jonathan Newman, said.

The majority of South Africa’s mobile operators said that they plan to sell the device, with only MTN saying that they haven’t got plans to offer the device as yet.

Toward the end of 2011, Samsung announced that the device would be available in SA from “early Q1 2012” from between R6,999 and R7,299.
