Telkom coins it on fibre and mobile
Telkom has released a trading update for the quarter ended 31 December 2025 and for the financial year-to-date, reporting a strong performance across the board.
Telkom Group data revenue grew by 9.6% during the quarter to R6.86 billion and is up 8.5% year-to-date. During the period, mobile data revenue grew 12.9% and fibre-related data revenue increased 8.9%.
According to the network operator, data revenue accounts for 60% of the group’s total revenue, which is up 1.3% at R11.14 billion year-on-year, and up 2.7% at R33.24 billion for the year-to-date.
“The disciplined execution of our data-led strategy delivered quality data revenue growth in the third quarter and year-to-date,” said Telkom Group CEO Serame Taukobong.
“This demonstrates our strength as South Africa’s digital backbone and our competitive edge of the OneTelkom approach.”
The Telkom Group reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of R3.24 billion, representing 8.4% growth during the reporting period.
“EBITDA also showed good growth year-to-date, increasing by 7.8%, with an EBITDA margin of 27.9% (27.3% excluding property sales,” it said.
Regarding the group’s mobile operations, mobile service revenue increased 7.2% year-on-year, and 7.8% year-to-date, which was supported by sustained mobile data growth and solid prepaid performance.
The Telkom Group’s mobile subscribers surpassed 25 million, and mobile data subscribers grew 29.3% to 19.3 million.
Regarding fibre, Openserve’s overall revenue increased 2.2% year-on-year and 2.5% year-to-day, which Telkom attributed to continued fibre monetisation.
Openserve’s fibre connectivity rate, which is the proportion of homes connected versus the number of homes its network passes, is at 52.4%.
Openserve’s homes passed surpassed 1.5 million, and its homes connected reached 786,490 during the reporting period.
“Homes passed increased by 12.0% to 1,501,406, while homes connected increased by 17.8% to 786,490. Our industry-leading connectivity rate expanded to 52.4%,” it said.
“Our exceptional network reliability resulted in uptime of 99.84%, 99.92%, and 100.00% across access, transport, and core network, respectively.”
