ADSL outage resolved

Numerous Telkom ADSL subscribers complained about downtime in the Johannesburg area this morning.  According to an industry player the downtime affected in excess of 8,000 ADSL subscribers and it is speculated that it was caused by problems with Telkom’s ATM network.

Areas affected included Aasvoelkop, Bromhof, Cooper Table, Flambojant, Hammets Crossing, Honeydew, Maria Elise, Meadowbrook, Montrose DCS, Nautilus, Olivedale and The Chapel.

Telkom confirmed the downtime, saying that services to some of Telkom’s ADSL customers in Johannesburg were affected as a result of three ATM links going down between the Rosebank and Bromhof areas at 06:43 this morning.

Telkom said that all services have been fully restored.
