The cheapest per-GB ADSL data bundles
Over the last few months there has been a shakeup in the local ADSL ISP market with a few new entrants launching aggressively priced services to gain market share. Lower prices are partly a result of more affordable international bandwidth pricing brought about by SEACOM, something which was widely predicted earlier this year.
Uncapped ADSL prices started to become more affordable to consumers in 2009. DigiChilli launched a 256 Kbps uncapped ADSL service for R300 per month while Screamer Telecoms launched an uncapped 384 Kbps service for R399 per month. Vodacom Business in turn entered the uncapped ADSL business market with its 4 Mbps uncapped service priced at between R2599 and R2799 from various resellers.
The per-GB ADSL market also became more competitive with new entrants releasing pricing which significantly undercuts traditional ADSL Internet Service Providers (ISP). The frontrunners include Afrihost, MyISP, Screamer Telecoms and G-Connect with prices ranging between R20 per GB and R30 per GB.
The following table provides an overview of some of the best deals in the local ADSL market:
