ADSL as low as R 10 per GB with split billing

The cost of local and international Internet access has been a contentious matter for some time now, and the benefits of cheaper local access have not fully been realized yet.  A few tech-savvy users are able to route their local and international traffic via different accounts and therefore make the most of cheaper local traffic, but no commercial product was available with the same functionality.

SAINET said it saw this gap in the market and announced that it has ‘overcome the technical challenges to achieve a split billing platform between local and International bandwidth – within one account’.  “Combine this with IPC, local bandwidth and SEACOM International access and we’re in business,” said GM Bianca Petersen from SAINET.

SAINET launched its SMART product range last year using a single account for 3G and ADSL traffic. “We took this model further, implemented IPC infrastructure and are now technically ready to deliver more cost effective ADSL prices,” says Petersen.

The basic price for SAINET’s latest split-billing ADSL service is R59 for a 2 GB account, but with the company’s split billing users will get between 2GB and 6GB of usage, depending on their local and international bandwidth usage ratio.  The effective price of the ADSL data will therefore be between R9.83 and R29.50 per GB.

“Local bytes will be billed at one third of the cost on an International byte. Users are able to monitor and see their split usage by using the Sainet SelfCare zone. If a user utilises 50% local/International he will effectively use 2GB of CAP and be billed for 1GB,” explains Petersen.

SAINET added that its full range of uncapped ADSL services will become available in the near future.
