Axxess reveals new ADSL reseller pricing
Internet Service Provider Axxess yesterday announced that they have officially launched their “new strategy for 2010”, which includes a strong focus on their reseller program and new pricing for their recently unveiled “Lite” account.
Andrew Simpson, managing director of Axxess DSL, says the company is planning to become a ‘new generation broadband provider’ for the South African market. “Axxess DSL have re engineered their business to launch themselves into the new generation space, and have aggressive plans to dominate the broadband market,” said Simpson.
Reseller pricing
Simpson said that the initial strategy is to launch the new reseller program, which will be followed by the Axxess Lite service within 60 days. The Axxess reseller program has various features, including white label control panels, usage SMSes, 24/7 helpdesk support and automated invoicing.
The ADSL data rate for Axxess resellers is R25 per GB (VAT exclusive). This price is aggressive when compared to other wholesalers like Internet Solutions and Telkom where ADSL wholesale prices are typically well above R30 per GB. Axxess further offers its reseller partners custom realms at R228 per month.
Different services, better distribution
Axxess has become well known for its prepaid ADSL vouchers – which can be used for Wi-Fi access as well – where the data remains active for 12 months. According to the ISP it is planning to extend its retail footprint, currently Engen and Pick n Pay, by another four distribution channels. Axxess however did not want to disclose the potential partners at this stage.
The Axxess Basic ADSL accounts, which retail for R59 per GB, will in future give subscribers access to a variety of ‘vIP’ value added services. These value added services include vIP Lock, vIP Secure, vIP Family DNS and SMS alerts.
Axxess is also planning a ‘Lite’ ADSL account which will carry a lower price than the ‘Basic’ option, but will not give subscribers access to any of the value added services. Pricing for the Lite account is yet to be released, but Simpson said that consumers can expect it to be ‘significantly cheaper than the R59 account’.
“ We should know within a couple of weeks what the new rates will be, and it is going to be much cheaper than our basic. Our intention is to offer a cheaper alternative to our basic account, and to allow the average South African consumer the ability to purchase a more cost effective Internet account, and also be able to get our superior support and control panel,” said Simpson.
