Local ADSL bandwidth prices slashed
The Internet Service Provider (ISP) Axxess, well known for its pre-paid bandwidth vouchers available at Pick & Pay and Engen, has slashed the price for both its pre-paid and monthly billed local bandwidth.
Axxess reduced the price of its monthly billed ADSL local only bandwidth from R 15.00 per GB to R 10.00 per GB. It also cut the price of its pre-paid local only ADSL bandwidth from R 17.00 per GB to R 12.00 per GB.
Axxess’ Franco Barbalich said that while there has been no reduction in the wholesale pricing, the tremendous growth in their ‘local only’ sales means that savings due to larger volumes can be passed on to customers.
Barbalich said that Axxess anticipates a significant increase in local only bandwidth sales. “Slowly more and more people are starting to provide locally hosted services. This in turn has a direct knock on effect with regards to local bandwidth usage,” said Barbalich.
