IS Fiber ADSL offering hits the market

Openweb, an ISP well known for its competitively priced ADSL services, has launched fiber based ADSL packages which will run on the new Internet Solutions Fiber International ADSL network.

Openweb says that the new accounts promise lower latency and higher speeds than the current satellite based services as all international traffic will run over the SAT 3 undersea cable.

The accounts will be shaped during office hours and unshaped after hours, allowing gamers and P2P users to get the best possible performance during quieter times.

All the new accounts will have additional local bandwidth accompanying the initial international bandwidth.

“The accounts are offered with a ‘like for like’ soft cap, meaning that the 1GB account will allow 1GB of local bandwidth after cap, the 2GB account will allow 2GB’s of local bandwidth after cap, and so forth,” said Openweb.

“After you have reached your soft cap, you will not be billed for any excess usage, which allows users to control their monthly ADSL spending.”

The 1 GB offering is priced at R 65.00, 2 GB at R 129.00 and 3 GB at R 189.00. The 10 GB offering, which carries 10 GB of local bandwidth after the cap, costs R 569.00 a month.
