ADSL problems
Telkom ADSL users across the country reported high latency and packet loss when using their ADSL service on Friday.
According to the Web Africa notice board "Clients may experience slow/latency international browsing on the SAIX network.” The notice says that Telkom technicians are investigating the problem and points out that there is no ETR on this issue. Web Africa further reported that the international links between Rosebank and Hong Kong are down.
Telkom confirmed that they experienced substantial bandwidth loss on the international gateway to Hong Kong from 11:41 to 12:31 today.
“All failure alarms were restored while technicians at our Melkbos Submarine Cable Station were in the process of investigating the cause of the failure. The failure was not on Telkom’s local network and clearance was possibly effected from Penang, Malaysia,” Telkom said.
