Telkom ADSL performance

According to Telkom’s key performance indicators for April to June 2008, its ADSL service had an international packet loss of 0.28% with a “maximum average” packet loss of 71%.

The information indicates an average local packet loss of 0.23% with an average maximum packet loss of 27.78%.

When it comes to international latency – measured to Amsterdam, Ashburn, Hong Kong, London and New York – the average was 271ms with a average maximum latency of 509ms and a average minimum of 182ms. According to the statistics the lowest latency was achieved to Hong Kong with a ping time of 142ms.

Locally, Telkom’s statistics indicated an average latency of 22ms with an average minimum of 2.81ms and an average maximum of 270ms.

According to Telkom statistics the average international jitter (the variation in the amount of latency among packets being received) was 1.22 while the average local jitter was 23.31.
