Telkom ADSL modem shortage
Many new Telkom ADSL consumers have been left stranded without an ADSL connection after the fixed line operator ran out of ADSL modems.
Telkom confirmed the shortage of ADSL modems in certain areas, and said that this was largely because of problems with their supply chain from overseas. Telkom said that they did receive delivery of some of the new stock required in mid-May and are expecting further deliveries around the 25th of May.
In the interim they are trying to manage the situation by moving stock between the Telkom Direct shops, making home deliveries where possible and providing new ADSL customers with refurbished modems on loan until new stock arrives.
“Telkom apologises for the inconvenience caused to affected customers but is doing everything possible to resolve the matter as expeditiously as possible,” said Telkom spokesperson Ajith Bridgraj.
