Neotel NeoConnect details
Neotel recently gave details about its first consumer offering, NeoConnect Prime. This product is a converged Internet, voice and SMS service priced at R 599.00 for 10 GB of data, 1000 free on-net voice minutes, 50 free on-net SMSs and the cost of the device.
Initially Neotel intends to serve those consumers who have already approached Neotel and registered for the services during the pilot phase. However, a formal public announcement, with a wider range of bundled options, will be made during the course of May.
“We picked up a number of pain points for consumers during this research process, including the issues relating to the perceived speed and capacities for internet access, lack of voice quality and reliability, the complexity associated with obtaining & setting-up services and a lack of true value for the customer,” says Ajay Pandey MD and CEO at Neotel.
“We believe that we have addressed these points in the design of our offering to consumers.”
The NeoConnect Prime service is targeted at a specific segment of the market, with more offerings to follow to address the different needs of other segments. “There will be packages that address lower usage and are therefore lower in price, and then of course there will be those packages that directly speak to high-end consumers,” said Pandey.
The VAT inclusive price of out-of-bundle usage will be 8 c per MB billed on a per MB basis.
Neotel-to-Neotel calls will cost 17 c per minute for local calls, 33 c for regional calls and 43 c for national long distance calls. Neotel-to-Telkom calls will cost 34 c and 17 c per minute for peak and off-peak local calls respectively. Regional call costs to Telkom will be 46 c and 29 c per minute (peak and off-peak) while national long distance calls will cost 57 c and 33 c per minute respectively.
Peak calls to mobile phones will cost R 1.76 per minute which will drop to R 1.09 during off-peak times.
Good news for Internet users looking for an unshaped service is that the NeoConnect Prime package offers an unshaped service, with no restrictions on any protocol, including P2P services.
The NeoConnect product does not lend itself to traditional fax services. However, Neotel has other products in its stable that are planned for the near future where fax capability will be included.
